Yasuke and Naoe Will Have Different Romantic Options, Players Will ‘Experience a Multitude of Relationships’

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next instalment from the stealth action-adventure franchise, takes us to the Land of the Rising Sun for a spectacular new adventure, set in the 16th century. AC Shadows is slated to release on November 15, 2024, and the game has been garnering a whole lot of hype thanks to its dual-protagonist system, which will see Yasuke and Naoe take centre stage in the next title. Yasuke and Naoe will seemingly be “two sides of the same coin”, with different personalities, interactions with characters, and romantic relationships.

Through a blog post, Ubisoft provided fans with more details on the dual protagonists that we are going to see in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It seems that both of them will be brought together by the Japanese daimyo at that time, Oba Nobunaga, in an effort to unify the country, which will lead them to the Second Tench Ina War, with the army being led by Naoe’s father, an iconic shinobi called Fujibayashi Nagato. The duo will not start as best friends, as they will have opposing opinions about Nobunaga and his ways, which also help provide players with “a more nuanced look at the late Sengoku period.”

Both characters have a different social stature and respond uniquely to the player. As an example, it was explained that Naoe could “present herself as a peasant and garner appropriate reactions” if she even wanted to be seen by the general public. Yasuke is different as he stands out as a foreigner in this land and his samurai status brings respect from other characters, hence, players might see many NPCs bowing to Yasuke in the streets.

Similarly, characters will have different interactions and expectations from the duo, and their “disparate personalities also lead them to have different relationships and rapports with other characters”. This difference will also be experienced during romantic interactions as Yasuke and Naoe will attract or be attracted to different types of people and through them, “players will get to experience a multitude of relationships.” It will be fun to see how these characters are personality wise as well as gameplay-wise once AC Shadows hits the stores.
