With Shure’s newest Lav mics you can be ‘sure’ to capture great audio

Audio brand Shure just released an updated set of wireless Lavalier condenser mics. The microphones are professional-level low-profile WL18Xm mics and include three different audio pattern models: the cardioid WL185m, super cardioid WL184m, and omnidirectional WL183m, for use with wireless bodypack transmitters.

These new lav mics build on the previous designs of Shure’s lav mic technology and offer accurate sound quality with an improved presence response.

The WL18Xm line aims to deliver enhanced specifications for optimal compatibility with modern wireless systems. It is specifically designed for speech and presentation applications for corporate, education, and worship environments. Lav mics are often used for interviews and broadcast situations when you don’t want the microphone to be obvious in the visual frame.

Designed for speech and presentation in corporate, educational, and worship settings.

Improved sound quality, presence response, lower self-noise, better RF immunity, higher dynamic range, and max SPL.

8 mm shorter than predecessors, making them lighter and lower-profile.

The tie clip rotates in 90° intervals for better positioning.

“As wireless technology continues to improve, we saw an opportunity to innovate and evolve the industry-standard WL line into a product that meets the requirements of professionals using today’s modern, digital systems,” said Nick Wood, Senior Director, Professional Audio Products, at Shure. “We’re introducing a product that users already know and love, now with lower self-noise, improved RF immunity, higher dynamic range, and improved max SPL.”

Pricing & Availability

The Lavalier microphones are available now. The TA4F connection models start at $139, and the LEMO connection models start at $159. Both include a tie clip, foam windscreen, and storage bag.

If these mics are more complicated than you want, check out Shure’s tiny clip-on lav mics. These really make audio capture more straightforward.
