What is IEM Cologne? ‘Intel Extreme Masters: Cologne’ is the biggest non-Major (i.e. not sponsored by Valve) event for the game in the world. As the name suggests IEM competitions are sponsored by Intel and cover Counter-Strike 2 and StarCraft II events, with the annual Cologne competition being the biggest one. Taking place at the Lanxess Arena, you can expect the crowd at this event to number around the 15,000 mark! 24 teams will be competing in Cologne for a prize pool of $1,000,000, with the 1st place team claiming $400,000 and automatic qualification into the almost as big IEM Katowice 2025 tournament. You can read more about the teams that are competing and the scheduling of the event here. When is IEM Cologne? The tournament will be running from Friday 16th August – Sunday 18th August. Friday will see the Quarterfinals, Saturday the Semifinals, and Sunday the Grand Final, preceded by a Showmatch. There will be a 15 minute Opening Ceremony each day before the matches take place.
