The Boys Showrunner Reveals Development Progress of the Mexico-Based Spinoff

The Boys: Mexico Spinoff’s Development Progress Revealed By Eric Kripke

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, fresh off the back of The Boys Season 5 announcement, has now shared details of a spin-off series from the franchise. A Mexico-set spinoff was announced back in November 2023, but details about it have been scarce until now. Kripke has now revealed the current development stage this spin-off title is in.

Kripke told Entertainment Weekly (via Screen Rant) that the upcoming spin-off is currently in its preliminary stages of development, with its script yet to be written completely. The production team is yet to finalise a deal with the writer of the series’ pilot episode and added that the spin-off title is still “a while away.”

Here’s Kripke’s full quote, “They are still making the deal with the writer for the pilot. He has an amazing pitch, and we all giggle and think about how fun it would be. But there are a lot of hurdles for that show before it’s a real show. He’s got to write an amazing pilot, he’s probably got to write an amazing episode 2. I think he can and he will, but we’re a while away from truly starting to drop in the Easter eggs and the setups and stuff.”

This would be the second The Boys spin-off title after Gen V, which is already set to receive a Season 2 after a successful launch on Amazon Prime Video. As for The Boys, its Season 4 will premiere on June 13, 2024, and the series got renewed for a fifth season a month before the coming season’s launch.

Bad Boys 4 film rating revealed
Bad Boys: Ride or Die will mark the return of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in their iconic roles. Their return marks yet another title in the series where the upcoming movie has received yet another ‘R’ rating (as reported by FilmRatings.com and spotted by Screen Rant) from the Motion Picture Association (MPA). Ever since director Michael Bay’s 1995 flick from 29 years ago which started this franchise, all four Bad Boys movies have received an ‘R’ rating by the censor board.

However, there’s been some varying forms of specifics in the R rating and the table below reveals the details of each R rating received by the Bad Boys movies so far. While violence, strong language and sexual references will persist in the 2024 movie, there’s no ‘drug content’ or ‘brief drug use’ like the last two movies. Some sort of silver lining, perhaps?

Bad Boys II (2003)
