It seems that the anime movie Suzume, along with other Crunchyroll titles, will soon be available on Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video.
IGN India reader ani_leaks informed us about spotting Suzume on Prime Video. Despite being available on Crunchyroll in multiple regions since November 2023, the film isn’t streaming in India or on any other platforms.
Anime Society India later noted that several shows available on Crunchyroll, including A Couple of Cuckoos, My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1, My Dress Up Darling, and others, are also listed on Prime Video.
“Also, the publisher is listed same as for the Crunchyroll channel on Prime Video Channels in other countries,” the page wrote.
Comix Wave Films India hinted in December 2023 that Suzume would arrive in India soon. However, before its anticipated release, the film had a theatrical re-release in February this year, leaving many wondering about its OTT debut. As of now, the shows mentioned earlier are not available for streaming on Prime Video, but you can find information about them on the platform.
Suzume was released in India on April 21, 2023, with a Hindi dub. It garnered ₹10 crores at the box office, meeting the expectations set by distributor PVR Pictures. Director Makoto Shinkai attended early premieres of the film in India.
Prime Video already offers dedicated anime channels like Anime Times and Animax, which require additional subscriptions. Crunchyroll’s channel on the service is expected to follow the same formula.
Meanwhile, Crunchyroll is gearing up to launch a dedicated TV channel in India. This channel might be similar to the 24-hour anime channel in the U.S., which is free and exclusively airs classic anime in English dub.
