Super Size Me Director Morgan Spurlock Dies Age 53




Oscar nominated documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has died aged 53 after complications of cancer, his family has announced.Spurlock, director of 2004 documentary Super Size Me, died surrounded by family and friends on May 23, 2024, in New York.“It was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan,” said Craig Spurlock who worked with him on several projects. “Morgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.”MORGAN SPURLOCK – PHOTO CREDIT: JEFF VESPA.Fast food documentary Super Size Me followed Spurlock’s 30-day journey to only consume McDonald’s food, shining a light on the changes made to his physical and psychological health and well-being in the process. Spurlock went on to direct Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?, The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, and Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan’s Hope. Over the course of 13 years, Spurlock produced and directed nearly 70 documentary films and television series.Morgan Spurlock is survived by his two sons – Laken and Kallen; mother Phyllis Spurlock; father Ben (Iris); brothers Craig (Carolyn) and Barry (Buffy); multiple nieces and nephews; and former spouses Alexandra Jamieson and Sara Bernstein, the mothers of his children.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN.
