Remember 2020 when Sony’s PlayStation 5 launched, and the whole world was scrambling to get its hands on it? It was a web of hurdles for any interested customer who had to deal with the fact that the global chip shortage had halted supply, and an ongoing pandemic made matters worse. It was even more difficult for Indian gamers who wanted a PS5 as the North American and European markets were prioritised and got the major portion of an already dwindling supply.
Whatever little amount of PS5 supply did make its way to India, the next big problem for many (including me) was scalping. The PS5 would arrive in a flash sale, and before you know it, the product would go out of stock as scalpers employed bots and scripts to get a hold of the PS5. Then, these scalpers would sell the console for as high as ₹70,000, if not more.

Sony PlayStation 5 Slim in Minutes
Cut to 2024, when PS5 is available off the shelves at nearby stores. Now, Sony has taken things up a notch with a collaboration with Blinkit and Sony. Interested PS5 buyers in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai can now order the new Sony PlayStation 5 Slim editions and the Sony DualSense Controller right from Blinkit. What is even better (and absurd) is that one can expect the delivery to take place in roughly ten minutes or more.
For what it’s worth, this is a great option for those who finally decide to get a PS5 and are just too eager to get their hands on the premium gaming console. Moreover, the availability of the DualSense controller on Blinkit is more practical for all PS5 gamers. The next time EA FC 24 makes me rage and break a controller, I know just where to head when I come back to my senses. Now, breaking a controller is not to be encouraged, but knowing I’ll have another in my hands in just minutes right at my doorstep is reassuring.

On the flip side, there is always a bit of uncertainty about ordering electronic goods online. Even mammoths such as Amazon and Flipkart have seen users report incidents of faulty goods and broken controllers. So, it remains to be seen how effectively the Blinkit customer service deals with any possible issues.
There is also no mention of a replacement policy from Blinkit on the store’s product pages for Sony PlayStation 5 Slim and DualSense controllers. We have reached out to Sony and Blinkit to get more clarity on how the replacement policy would work, and how customers will receive invoices for their purchases to avail warranty benefits. We will update this story if and when we receive a response from Sony and Blinkit.

PS5 Slim already out of stock on Blinkit
Interested buyers have already reported that stock has run out, and game analyst Rishi Alwani had previously reported that Sony’s new PS5 Slim will receive limited supply in India. Alwani claims that the limited stock is due to the huge stock of the original PS5 still in retail.
