Sony PlayStation 5 Console Bundles Get a Discount; PS5 Slim and V2 DualSense Controllers May Arrive in India Soon; All You Need to Know

PlayStation India is hosting a new discount on the PS5 console bundles available in India. The discount slashes ₹4,000 off the MRP, and the offer will start on January 13. Here’s all you need to know about the new offer, including the games bundled with the PlayStation 5, and availability details.

PS5 console bundles discounted in India
Sony is offering three separate bundles in India, which had launched alongside the release of the games that are attached to the bundle. There is a Cricket 24, EA Sports FC 24, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare III bundle available in India. Currently, the Cricket 24 bundle is priced at ₹57,990 whereas the FC 24 PS5 bundle costs ₹59,390. As for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 bundle, it is also currently available for ₹59,390. Each bundle is going to receive an instant ₹4,000 discount, which can be coupled with other bank discounts and offers to further bring the price down.

PlayStation India has announced that the offer will be available on ShopatSC, which is the official online Sony store. You can also avail the upcoming discount on third-party e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, and other participating retailers.

Indian games analyst Rishi Alwani speculates that the offer is likely a reaction from Sony to the recently decreased price of Xbox Series X in India, which is now being sold for ₹45,990, an 18% discount from its MRP price of ₹55,990 in India. He also added that it will not be surprising if the current PS5 console bundle sale leads to the PS5 Slim version making its way to India “sooner than expected.”

PS5 v2 DualSense controller
There’s a new rumour around the block about a PS5 DualSense v2 controller. The mysterious new version of the PS5 controller has been spotted at Best Buy Canada, and it reportedly offers a better battery life than the current PS5 controller on the market. The PS5 v2 DualSense controller listing was spotted by X user NextGenPlayer, and the product page on Best Buy Canada mentions a better battery life for the controller.

The new controller offers an “exceptional 12-hour battery life” on full charge. The battery has been one of the primary complaints from PS5 users, as the technology-loaded controller usually lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 hours on full charge at the moment, as per reports. This does pale in comparison to Xbox Series X/S controllers, which reportedly offer up to 40 hours of battery life before running out of juice.

There can be a variety of reasons why the PS5 controller has significantly less battery life. For starters, the PS5 has more technological features than the Xbox controller, as the DualSense controller comes equipped with haptic feedback and adaptive trigger technology. Furthermore, the PS5 controller has an in-built microphone, unlike the Xbox counterpart.

While there is no confirmation yet from Sony about this new version of the PS5 controller, one can assume that battery life must be one of Sony’s priorities if there is going to be an upgrade to the controller. Sony has also not been shy of upgrading its console, as it plans on releasing the PS5 Slim, and the current standard PS5 console is known to have undergone hardware and software upgrades since its release in 2020. If the controller is indeed real, having somewhere around 12 hours of gaming consistently is good news for fans.

PS5 v2 DualSense controller may arrive in India as well
Speaking of good news, games analyst Rishi Alwani has also speculated that the PS5 controller’s updated version would eventually make its way to India “hopefully soon.” The demand for the controllers have reportedly been “solid” in the country.

Currently, the Best Buy listing states a $89.99 price tag for the PS5 DualSense v2 controller. Given that the price is consistent with the standard PS5 controllers being sold in Canada, and there are no new features listed on the v2 product page, one can expect this controller to arrive at the same price as the DualSense controllers available in India.
