At NAB 2024, Chinese manufacturer SHIMBOL introduced their newest product, the SHIMBOL CM5 Wired Camera Control Recording Monitor. This is a 5.5” touchscreen monitor, which also allows you to control certain functionalities of your camera such as white balance, shutter, focus, zoom, and more.Technical detailsThe monitor has a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1,200:1, and a brightness of 2,000 nits – making it useful even in daylight recording situations. According to the manufacturer, the device should work with most DSLR cameras on the market. It also features on-screen histograms and scopes to make sure you get the right exposure. ConnectionsThe SHIMBOL CM5 Wired Camera Control Recording Monitor has an HDMI port for the picture and a Mini-USB port for the controls. When plugging in the camera, the monitor will automatically recognize it and allow for control of the camera. It also features two SDI ports but these can only transmit the picture.
