We assumed that the 9800X3D would be released next year, with a sneak peek/announcement of the new Zen 5 CPU at CES perhaps. But it seems that thanks to new rumors, the 9800X3D could be coming at the end of November. But now we have the box art to look at decorated accompanied with some positive comments. 9800X3D possible box art revealed A leaker on YouTube, Moore’s Law is Dead, posted a video showcasing a rumor roundup of the 9000X3D series, and within these rumors was the box art for the 9800X3D. “AMD R7 9800X3D Picture Leak | RDNA 4 Delay | Nvidia RTX 5000 Update” – Moore’s Law is Dead The image of the box in question appears at 1:02 and features what can only be assumed to be the 9800X3D packaging. This is the first time we have seen the 9000X3D series packaging, and it appears to follow similar design philosophies that we’ve observed in the past. According to Moore’s Law, this is AMD marketing material provided to its partners for the imminent launch of the 9800X3D. This backs up the claims of the processor releasing sometime soon. AMD releasing the 9800X3D sooner rather than later holds two main advantages, one, they get to shift the narrative of the ‘less than optimal’ 9000 series launch, and they get to compete with Intel’s Arrow Lake directly as the X3D will be occupying a similar release window, the hope, we assume, is that people will wait for X3D rather than moving over to Intel. This will further be helped by the rumors that Intel has scrapped Arrow Lake refresh, leaving LGA 1851 a one-trick pony.
