Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will not have any NFTs

Pokemon Company has recently confirmed that the upcoming Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will not feature any NFTs. Meanwhile, Pokemon GO now features an exclusive variant of Pikachu, the most popular Pokemon in the franchise.

The TPC has put an end to speculations that their upcoming mobile game will feature any non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The Pokemon Company International released a statement carried by Polygon saying, “The Pokémon Company International has not developed or approved of Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) related to the Pokémon brand and associated intellectual property.”

Although it is now clear that NFTs have no relation to the upcoming Android and iOS game, the status of whether the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will be free-to-play is still unknown. Moreover, it has also been suggested that the game would have in-app purchases as players will get to open two packs of digital cards every day without any charge.

Creatures Inc. is one of the owners of the Pokemon franchise, and their president and CEO Yuji Kitano has said that the game will feature “immersive cards [that] give players the experience of leaping into the world of the card illustration.”

The Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will be released for iOS and Android in 2024.
