One of the Essential Games Has Already Leaked; Sony Introduces Passkeys for PS Accounts

Sony’s PlayStation Plus Essential membership gives free monthly games to subscribers, and one of the games for March 2024 has reportedly been leaked.

A new report from Dealabs user billbil-kun, a highly-credible PS Plus leaker, who has almost never been wrong about the upcoming PS Plus monthly games and has been leaking the line-up since September 2021, has reported that there will three games offered in March 2024. The leaker also revealed that one of these games will be Sifu.

Sifu is a beat ’em up game from Sloclap that came out in 2022. The game is set in China, where players take on the role of a child whose father was killed. The father was a martial arts school’s sifu (master), and the man seeks revenge on those who murdered his father. The player’s character has a unique ability in Sifu, which allows them to be resurrected by a magical talisman when they die, but after each resurrection, the character ages while gaining more powerful attacks with reduced health. This offers a unique gameplay experience in the narrative-driven game.

As mentioned, Sifu will be joined by two other games for PS Plus Essential titles in March 2024, but those titles are not known yet. Currently, PlayStation Plus subscribers can still claim PS Plus February 2024 games before they expire on March 5, 2024. PS Plus games for February 2024 are Foamstars, Rollerdome, and Steelrising.

The leaker has also said that the official Sony announcement for Sifu, alongside the other two games for March 2024, will take place today on February 28.

Sony introduces passkeys for PlayStation accounts
Sony has introduced passkeys for PlayStation accounts, meaning players do not have to enter their passwords each time they want to log in. Players can now simply log in through their mobile device or computer and use its screen unlocking method to log in. Furthermore, players can also use a PIN, fingerprint, or the phone’s facial recognition to login into their PS account.

Players can set up a passkey by heading to Security under Account Management and choosing the option to create a passkey. Simply follow the on-screen instructions, and you will be able to set up your passkey.

The company’s official page states that using passkeys reduces account vulnerability and makes them more resistant to phishing and data breaches. Sony also advised against the use of mobile PIN codes as passkeys and instead recommended users use Google Password Manager, 1Password, Dashlane and iCloud Keychain.

Sea of Thieves requires Microsoft account to play on PS5
Sea of Thieves will require PlayStation players to have a Microsoft account, as per the official listing on the PlayStation Store (spotted by Exputer). This means that PS players would have to create a Microsoft account if they do not already have one in place. Existing Sea of Thieves players who are looking to play on the PS5 will retain their progress in the game, as they already would have a Microsoft account, and so their progress will not be lost.
