New Predator Film in the Works With Prey Director Dan Trachtenberg Returning

A new film in the Predator universe is in development, with Prey director Dan Trachtenberg set to direct the next installment. In a new report by Deadline, 20th Century is looking to expand the Predator universe with the latest film, Badlands. In addition to directorial duties, Trachtenberg will co-write the script for Patrick Aison, whose previous work includes writing Prey and the upcoming film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film is set to be a standalone film in the Predator universe and is slated to begin shooting later this year. However, plot details and whether or not the film will get a theatrical release or stream exclusively on Hulu. Prey was released in 2022 and serves as a prequel to the first four films in the Predator franchise. The film was met with positive reception when it was released exclusively on Hulu; so much so, in fact, that Disney revealed that Prey broke Hulu’s records for the most-watched premiere for a single release, beating every other film and TV show released on the streaming platform. In our review of Prey, my colleague Tom Jorgensen said: “With plenty of the Predator franchise’s signature brutal kills, a simple but never simplistic story, and a star-making turn from Amber Midthunder… Prey slays.”Taylor is a Reporter at IGN.
