Detective Dotson is an upcoming narrative-driven game where players take on the role of a detective trying to uncover the mystery behind their father’s death. The game has been developed by Masala Games, an indie game studio based in Ahmedabad. Detective Dotson is now listed on Steam and can be wishlisted ahead of its planned release this year.
Masala Games’ title puts players in the shoes of Detective Dotson, and they have to solve puzzles, find clues, and investigate suspects. The game features open-ended action platforming and players will have to “interact with an array of locals” to solve the mystery, and completing missions given by NPCs will also help them earn money in the game.
Detective Dotson also offers player choice in its gameplay and there are multiple endings based on the choices players make during the story. There are two confirmed missions to play in Detective Dotson, and there are plans for more. The first episode of this 3-part mini-series indie game is called ‘Who Killed Dad?’ and as the title already suggests, it is about solving a murder mystery. As the official Steam page states, the protagonist always wanted to be a Bollywood actor but had to turn on the detective mode to find out what happened.
Masala Games studios have only said that things get “blown out of proportion” in Mission 2 but have so far kept more information about it a secret, as the mission is most likely going to feature events that take place after Mission 1.
There is no concrete release date yet for Detective Dotson, but the game is currently listed for a Q3 2024 release on Steam. Detective Dotson’s demo is also available on Steam at the moment, so players can check out the game, and if you like it, you can now wishlist it on Steam.
