After multiple delays, Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie has moved up in Marvel’s upcoming slate of movies. Originally scheduled for July 25th, 2025, it’s been moved up to May 2, 2025.Marvel’s answer to DC’s Suicide Squad, The Thunderbolts centers around a team of familiar villains that we’ve seen in previous MCU projects like Captain America And The Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Ant-Man And The Wasp who have been assembled by CIA agent Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Up to this point, we still don’t know much about the movie beyond its casting.The news that the movie’s moved up may come as a shock to anyone following the news cycle around The Thunderbolts, which has seen multiple casting shake-ups in the last few months, and a heavily delayed production schedule related to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year. It was announced that Steven Yeun was joining the movie’s cast early last year, but it was revealed that he would no longer be playing The Sentry early this year. Ayo Edebiri recently left the project as well.Expected to begin filming in March or April (according to Florence Pugh), Thunderbolts will be the second MCU film to hit theaters next year following Captain America: Brave New World. It’s assumed that Sam Wilson’s next adventure as Captain America will set up the Thunderbolts given Harrison Ford’s appearance as Thaddeus Ross in both movies.This announcement came packaged with other MCU news, including an official reveal that Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four movie would star Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible, Napoleon) as Susan Storm, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm and a poster for Shakman’s upcoming superhero period piece.
