According to the leak from @MysteryLupin shared by Android Police and corroborated by a document posted on X/Twitter, the Google Pixel 8a will feature a Tensor G3 chipset, identical to those in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models. The device is rumored to come with 8GB of RAM and options for either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.
The display is a standout feature, reportedly a 6.1-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, offering superior visibility and fluidity. For photography enthusiasts, the Pixel 8a is expected to sport a 64MP primary camera alongside a 13MP ultrawide sensor, with a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies. Additionally, Google’s signature AI photo editing features are anticipated to enhance the imaging capabilities further.

In terms of design, the device may boast a slightly smaller and more rounded form factor than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a, and feature enhanced durability with IP67 water and dust resistance. For connectivity, the phone will support USB 3.2 Type-C and Wi-Fi 6E, along with security features like an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock capabilities.
The pricing of the Pixel 8a is particularly noteworthy, with a leaked promotional image suggesting a starting price of €549 in Europe—a slight increase from the Pixel 7a’s launch price. The document hints at a range of color options, including Volcanic Black, Porcelain, two shades of blue (Blue and Azure), and two shades of green (Green and Aloe), though availability may vary by region.
With these leaks, the Google Pixel 8a is shaping up to be a robust mid-range contender, offering premium features at a competitive price point. As the Google I/O 2024 approaches, the tech community eagerly awaits official confirmation and further details about this exciting new device.
