Kill the Justice League — Rocksteady Quietly Adds Denuvo DRM, Introduces Great System for Battle Pass Progression, and More

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is now out for those who bought the Deluxe Edition, and just before its release, Rocksteady Studios added Denuvo DRM to the game. While that certainly has fans unhappy, there are still a few changes to celebrate, such as how the battle pass would operate, giving players enough time to earn rewards without worrying about expiration.

Ahead of the game’s release, a new update arrived for Steam which mentions that the infamous Denuvo anti-cheat DRM software is now a part of the game. The addition comes as a surprise to fans since it is a single-player game. The addition of DRM was spotted on SteamDB (via PCGamesN). While the anti-cheat software may have something to do with the online battle-pass, players are largely unhappy with the anti-cheat software due to its reported negative effect on PC performance.

New Elseworlds and free playable character with each season
Now that the game is out, there is a rudimentary roadmap announced by the developers, which states that four different Seasons have been planned for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Each season will feature two Episodes, and each will be around six weeks in length. All four Seasons will be launched in the first year, and developers have revealed that each season will be themed around a new and free playable character.

We already know that the first season will introduce an Elseworlds Joker in March 2024. Furthermore, developers revealed in the official Discord channel of the game that each season will be themed around a new Elseworlds. Alongside new Elseworlds and playable characters, players can expect new gear, missions, and boss fights for free.

Suicide Squad brings positive change to battle passes
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has a battle pass feature, that has been missing from live-service games. Unlike other battle passes we see in Fortnite, Apex Legends, Halo Infinite, and more, the battle pass in Suicide Squad does not expire. The traditional battle passes last a couple of months and the sweetest rewards are usually reserved for the end of it, and with limited time to complete this, players have to grind or else they can lose out on these rewards.

With Suicide Squad, it’s different, as studio director Darius Sadeghian explained in a QA session on the Discord channel. He said, “We’re also happy to announce that you will be able to go back and play previous battle passes after a season ends. We believe that our team has created some of the best-looking cosmetic items ever, and we want those to be available for our players to enjoy without fear that they’ll miss out on anything.”
