Insta360 Flow Pro is the world’s first DockKit-enabled iPhone gimbal

Insta360 has announced the new Insta360 Flow Pro (buy here). Extending the features of the Insta360 Flow ($146), the new Flow Pro is designed specifically for Apple iPhones. It’s compatible with Apple DockKit, which Insta360 says allows it to work with the native camera app and over 200 third-party iOS apps.

The Insta360 Flow is a 3-axis gimbal, featuring Insta360’s latest Deep Track 3.0 algorithms. But it now also offers full 360-degree rotation in the vertical axis. And it still features the same built-in selfie stick as the original.

Insta360 Flow Pro – Apple DockKit Support

Insta360 says the new Insta360 Flow Pro is based on the success of the company’s first gimbal, the Insta360 Flow. It already featured class-leading subject-tracking, but Insta360 felt they could improve on it and its interoperability with Apple iPhones.

Using DockKit, Insta360 says it combines the best of both Insta360 and Apple’s subject-tracking features for unparalleled efficiency. And that starts with pairing the two together, which can be done easily using NFC. Just scan the gimbal with your phone, and you’re all set.

DockKit support means that the gimbal is also available for use with more than 200 third-party iPhone apps that utilise the camera. Apps like FaceTime, Zoom, TikTok, and many more. This will make filming for social media extremely easy when you can do it using the app’s own native camera feature.

Infinite Pan Tracking and pet detection

The Insta360 Flow removes the vertical axis limits by providing a full 360 degrees of infinite rotation. This provides a lot more control over your camera movements when shooting. This is a great move, along with the new pet tracking features.

The Insta360 Flow can recognise dogs, cats, and horses, as well as people. But the new infinite pan axis means you can set your camera down on a tripod and you or your pets can move all the way around them without the camera hitting any limits.

And to make it easy to see when the gimbal’s tracking its subjects, there’s a tracking indicator LED light, so you can see at a glance if it’s following you from a distance. Thanks to hands-free gesture control operation, it makes for a great portable smartphone vlogging gimbal.

It has a built-in 2900mAh battery and can also charge your phone while in use. It features the same built-in mini tripod feet and selfie stick as the Insta360 Flow. It also has the built-in cold shoe for connecting your Rode Wireless Pro ($373) or other wireless microphone receiver.

The original Insta360 Flow was a great smartphone gimbal for social media content, and I still use mine quite often. The Insta360 Flow Pro looks like a great logical step up whether you shoot with an iPhone or not. It’s still compatible with Android devices, just like the Flow.
