GTA Online Players Are Being Served with Permanent Bans for Using an Exploit, Here’s What You Need to Know
Hackers and cheaters are not appreciated in any games as their methods lead to disregarding as well as disrespecting all the genuine efforts that other players have put into the game. Hence, the community greatly appreciates when their cheaters are served with appropriate punishments. Interestingly, Rockstar Games is one of the devs that is waging a war against cheaters and their latest punishment includes serving permanent bans to them on GTA Online.
It seems that GTA Online players were using a duplication exploit, which allowed them to copy another user’s data and create an account which is a 1:1 copy. The use of this exploit resulted in the creation of accounts that had the Rank 7984 and as many players were using this glitch, other players would notice that there were several accounts in the lobby with this specific rank. It didn’t take time for the community to notice that something fishy was going on.

Soon the issue reached Rockstar Games’ doorstep too, and they were not happy about this. As spotted by ClassiqueGTA on X (formerly Twitter), the players who have taken advantage of this exploit are being served with a permanent ban from GTA Online. They are given an alert that states they have been “banned from Rockstar Games Online services and are not permitted to enter Grand Theft Auto Online Permanently.” On top of that, if they are a GTA member, then they would need to “manually cancel” their membership.

The community appreciates the effort made by Rockstar to curb the use of this glitch, as it blatantly takes advantage of other players’ accounts, which were built on hours and hours of grinding. Cheating is never the way to go, especially in online games as it could lead to the gameplay experience being spoiled for other players. The intended way can be much more difficult but is equally rewarding.
