Google DeepMind’s New AI Project Will be Able to Play Games For You

The era of AI has arrived and the world is adopting it slowly and steadily. We have started implementing this technology in all aspects of work, whether it be writing, editing videos or even game development. What’s interesting is that it seems that Google DeepMind’s new AI project is more focused towards playing the game, instead of helping in its development. Learn more about how it works.

As reported by Insider Gaming, Google DeepMind’s new project is called SIMA, which is short for Scalable Intructable Multiworld Agent. This new project is an “instructable game-playing AI agent”. Google partnered with different types of game developers to train this AI agent in different types of games. Through this training, they concluded that this AI was able to navigate through different types of game environments with the help of “natural-language” instructions.

SIMA has been tested across nine titles which include No Man’s Sky, Valheim, Goat Simulator 3, Hydroneer, Construction Lab, Playhouse, ProcTHOR, Wobbly Life, Teardown, and Satisfactory. This training aimed to make the AI learn how to follow instructions in different game settings which will lead to unlocking “helpful AI agents for any environment”. This will then be used to “translate the capabilities of advanced AI models into useful, real-world actions through a language interface.”

Through this training, SIMA was “evaluated across 600 basic skills” and now it can perform simple tasks that can be done in 10 seconds. These tasks include driving the car or jumping the fence in Goat Simulator 3, going to a spaceship or shooting asteroids in No Man’s Sky, finding water or chopping trees in Valhiem, picking up iron ore or opening the HUB terminal in Satisfactory and much more. With the way it’s progressing, AI might just become better than most players at gaming. Learn more about SIMA through Google DeepMind’s new blog post.
