From Me to You Manga Author Launches New Series

Karuho Shiina, the creator of the manga From Me to You, known as Kimi no Todoke in Japanese, is launching a new manga series titled Toppuu to Beat (Gust of Wind and Beat).

As reported by Oricon News (via MyAnimeList), Shiina’s new manga will debut in the April issue of the shojo manga magazine Bessatsu Margaret on March 13. To celebrate the manga’s launch, it will be showcased on the magazine’s front cover and opening colour page.

Gust of Wind and Beat marks Shiina’s first new manga in 18 years since From Me to You. The story takes place in a small seaside town in Hokkaido, where a high school girl named Nike goes on mysterious journeys to rediscover her forgotten self. Along the way, she encounters Nemo, a boy who seldom attends classes.

Shiina’s manga From Me to You earned her the Best Shojo award at the 32nd Kodansha Manga Awards. Running from December 2005 to November 2017, it spans over 30 volumes. The manga was adapted into an anime television series in 2010, and after a decade-long wait, it is receiving a third season on Netflix in 2024. Additionally, it was adapted into a live-action series by Netflix, which premiered on the platform in March 2023.
