First Five Games for the India Hero Project Reportedly Revealed

Update: An earlier version of the article erroneously mentioned Requital Gates of Blood as Requiem Gates of Blood. This has now been fixed.

Back in May 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that its India Hero Project (IHP) will incubate games from upcoming developers in the country. The first cohort to receive support from the India Hero Project has reportedly just been revealed.

Games analyst Rishi Alwani has reported that the first five games to receive funding and support from Sony under the India Hero Project (IHP) are Requital Gates of Blood, SURI: The Seventh Note, Meteora, Fishbowl, and Mukti. Let’s check all the details around these games here.

India Hero Project: First wave of selected titles
SURI: The Seventh Note is a 2D Metroidvania game from Tathvamasi Studios, a studio based in Bangalore. As for Fishbowl, imissmyfriends.studio is developing the title and describes it as offering “a slice-of-life coming-of-age story.”

Mukti, made by underDOGS studio from Mumbai, “is a first-person exploration game set in an Indian museum, addressing the pressing issue of human trafficking.” Holy Cow Productions is working on ‘Requital Gates of Blood’, and no information is out regarding the title at the moment. It is likely that the game is currently in its early stages of development.

How Sony India Hero Project funding works
As per the official FAQ page of IHP, these developers are eligible to receive funding of at least $100,000 (roughly INR 83 lakhs) to develop and expand their upcoming titles. The funding will be provided after hitting a milestone and a due review process. Apart from the funding, the IHP will also offer mentorship from PlayStation network for developers of these titles, along with access to SIE’s internal resources.

These games are just the first phase of titles to receive support from IHP, and more games are expected to receive incubation support from Sony.
