Fairly Oddparents Gets a Sequel Series With Original Cosmo and Wanda Voice Actors Returning

Nickelodeon’s hit 2000s cartoon, The Fairly OddParents, is coming back with a new sequel series, and it’ll be here sooner than you think. The show, titled The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, will be CG-animated when it premieres on Nickelodeon this spring, the network announced today. It’s also set to show up on Netflix before the end of 2024.It’s a 20-episode show that aims to recapture the magic with new visuals, characters, and locations, but fans of the original series will find some things to love, too. Cosmo and Wanda are back as the show’s leading fairies, with Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris both back to reprise their roles. Timmy Turner, however, will not be back, as Nickelodeon says the show follows its colorful fairies in a completely new environment.“In Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, ten-year-old Hazel Wells has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job,” an official description reads. “On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.”The Fairly OddParents’ original run began in 2001 before finally concluding in 2017, with viewers following Cosmo, Wanda, and Timmy’s journey over 172 episodes. The property also received a live-action spinoff show at Paramount+ in 2022 called The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder which brought fans one new season of content.Adventure Time’s Fred Seibert, as well as Danny Phantom and Fairly OddParents creator Butch Hartman, are serving as executive producers on The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish. Co-executive producers include David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, and Daniel Abramovici. The New Wish series does not have a release date yet, but with the premiere planned for spring, it shouldn’t be too long before we hear more.Michael Cripe is a freelance contributor with IGN.
