Elden Ring DLC ESRB Listing Suggests That a Shadow of the Erdtree Edition of the Game May Arrive Soon
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is coming later this year, and its ESRB listing has some interesting information to deliver. While the normal expectation for anyone would be to find out more about the upcoming expansion’s offerings, the listing info spells out what the base game is about.
This detail can be overlooked, simply for its lack of new information to offer, but the good folks at VG247 have reported that this may be a sign that FromSoftware is looking to launch an Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition of the game, which comprises of both the base game and the upcoming expansion.
The DLC’s listing on the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) shows a mature 17+ rating, highlighting the recommended age as the DLC contains “blood and gore, language, suggestive themes, [and] violence.” The ESRB rating lays out that Elden Ring is an action RPG title where the word “‘sh*t’ appears in the dialogue.”

This rating, along with the description of the product, is identical to that received by the Elden Ring base game. VGC247 states that the DLC has received its separate ESRB listing because Bandai Namco, publisher of Elden Ring, and developer FromSoftware are planning to introduce a fresh Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition down the road.
This would make sense as a new product to offer, as players who do not own the base game would want an option that offers both Elden Ring and the DLC in one complete package. It is similar to how Cyberpunk 2077 received an Ultimate Edition which includes the Phantom Liberty DLC as well.
