Christopher Nolan Recalls Screening the Movie for Steven Spielberg

Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece from 2023 is all set to rake in the awards. The movie at the moment is leading the Oscar nominations, nominated for 13 categories. Before this major day arrives for them, Christopher Nolan has just revealed his interesting interaction with Steven Spielberg before the movie was released, learn more below.

During a recent Q&A session with Associated Press (via ScreenRant) Nolan recalled screening Oppenheimer for Spielberg and called it an “extraordinary experience”. Nolan talks about how when he “first got the 70m/5perf print”, he showed it to Spielberg. This was at a time when he hadn’t shown the movie to anyone and only the studio had seen it. Nolan reveals how he “sat behind him and watched him watch the film” which was an “extraordinary experience” for him.

Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune who was also a part of this session revealed that Spielberg “absolutely adored” the movie. Nolan then talks about how Spielberg says “very kind things” but his main motive was “just to watch him watch”. Nolan’s original plan wasn’t to watch the movie with him, but he felt “it was sort of irresistible” to not see “the great master watching”. This just goes to show the respect they have for each other.

Stephen Colbert and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Skit
In other news, Stephen Colbert and Christopher Nolan have presented us with a hilarious skit which was sort of a reenactment of a scene from Oppenheimer. The skit is in black and white print, and we see Colbert portraying the role of Oppenheimer. But, before he can start saying anything, he is met with artificial rain, which is being poured on him through by pipe by Nolan. Colbert asks Nolan to stop and he seemingly does for a split second before he shoots the water directly on Colbert’s face. It’s a hilarious skit that you can check out in the video embedded below.
