Pre-Match Analysis:
South Africa never conceded a home Test series against India and looks to maintain the streak going. Temba Bavuma who missed the white-ball leg is back as a skipper for the longest format. The pace battery consisting of Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, and Kagiso Rabada will be eagerly waiting to give nightmares to the visitors. Currently uncapped in Tests, Nandre Burger who recently made his debut in both ODIs and T20Is will join the well-oiled pace unit. After scoring heaps of runs in the domestic circuit, The 29-year-old batter David Bedingham has been rewarded with a maiden Test call-up. Dean Elgar who is in the Swansong Test series will be the player to keep an eye on.

South Africa is the only place, India yet to conquer in the longest format. They had the best opportunity last time when they took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series however their dreams were shattered following the losses in the 2nd and 3rd Tests. Things have changed over the last two years and Rohit Sharma will lead the side in this series and speedster Jasprit Bumrah named as his deputy. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill don’t have prior experience playing in South Africa in this format and will be exposed to the pace and bouncy conditions. Ace batter Virat Kohli has prepared well and is ready to rock once again. Lokesh Rahul has been given new responsibilities as he will be keeping wickets and will bat in the middle order. Ravindra Jadeja is going to be the lead spinner in the overseas conditions. Prasidh Krishna is in the line to make his Test debut.
