Pre-Match Analysis:
Not the ideal start that Durham was expecting on the opening day of the T20 Blast 2024. They traveled to Manchester but returned empty-handed, losing to hosts Lancashire by 9 wickets. After being sent into bat first, they collapsed for a paltry 75 runs with only Graham Clark, Ben Raine, Matthew Potts, and Ben Dwarshuis making the double-digit scores. It all looked one-sided in the second half as the game ended with 12 overs to spare. It was a wake-up call for them at the start of the tournament as both batting and bowling went wrong. Fortunes might change as they set to host Warwickshire on Friday.

Warwickshire had a dream run until the knockout stages last season where they had a heartbreak in the Quarter-Final against Essex losing by 2 wickets to end their campaign. They have retained the bulk of the squad from the previous season with Alex Davies set for another stint as a skipper. Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali who failed to make it to the Pakistan T20 World Cup squad is the only overseas player to be named for their first outing against Durham. Keeping in mind that, they have an abundance of local talent they didn’t sign any of the overseas batters this season. They were top-notch with the bat throughout the tournament last year with Sam Hain (481 runs), Rob Yates (447 runs ), and Alex Davies (345 runs) making the bulk of the contributions. Young off-spinning all-rounder Dan Mousley caught the attention with his performances, picking up 21 wickets and adding 263 runs.
