What is the Pitch Report for ZIM vs IND, 1st T20I?
It’s not an easy venue to hit sixes considering the long boundaries on either side of the wicket. The surface offers consistent bounce and pace while spinners will get good turn as well. Application on this particular track matters a lot for the batters as it’s not a high-scoring one. Teams chasing have prevailed in the last 6 Men’s T20Is played here hence bowling first seems to be better option.

Pre-Match Analysis:
Zimbabwe who has a 2026 T20 World Cup as a target in mind has moved on from the traditional practices and named a young squad against the in-coming second-string Indian team. Sikandar Raza is the only constant in the mix and will lead the troops. Senior members Craig Ervine and Sean Williams aren’t considered for selection due to their different commitments elsewhere.
There is no place for Ryan Burl, Ainsley Ndlovu, and Joylord Gumbie. Wesley Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta who completed their drug suspension period have been included in the squad. Belgium-born Antum Naqvi who made waves in domestic cricket earlier this year has earned his first National call-up. Seamer Tendai Chatara who was dropped for the bilateral series against Bangladesh and Ireland returns to the team.
The series will be the stepping stone for next-generation Indian cricketers to build their careers at the highest level. None of the T20 World Cup Winning members are part of the first two T20Is hence that will allow skipper Shubman Gill and interim head coach VVS Laxman to try out different combinations. It’s the first time India-call up for Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Tushar Deshpande, and Harshit Rana who have been rewarded for their astounding performances in IPL.
Dhruv Jurel who has 3 Test caps to his name earned his maiden T20I call-up and will keep wickets in the first two matches of the series. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh who missed on T20 World Cup selection are part of the 15-member squad. Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, and Harshit Rana will form the pace unit. Ravi Bishnoi is the only genuine spinner in the mix and he will be accompanied by all-rounder Washington Sundar. Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana have named replacements for Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube for the first two T20Is.
