K-pop girl group Blackpink member Lisa is set to make her acting debut by joining the cast of the third season of The White Lotus.
Variety reports that she will be credited under her real name on the show, Lalisa Manobal. Details about her role in the series have not been revealed yet.
The third season of The White Lotus, which was renewed by HBO in November 2022, will be filmed in Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok in Thailand. Lisa may portray a Thai-speaking character, a language she is fluent in. Other members of Blackpink, such as Jisoo and Jennie, have already made their acting debuts in the K-drama Snowdrop and HBO’s The Idol, respectively.
The HBO comedy-drama premiered in July 2021, centering around the White Lotus resort in Hawaii and exploring the dynamics among its guests and employees. The second season shifted its setting to a different resort in Sicily, Italy. Following the anthology format, it introduced a new storyline with a fresh cast, though actress Jennifer Coolidge returned to reprise her role as Tanya McQuoid.
For the third season, the ensemble cast includes Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, Shalini Peiris, Carrie Coon, and others.
IGN’s The White Lotus Season 2 a score of 8/10 in its review, writing: “The White Lotus Season 2 shifts its location to Sicily, but the guest registry collects another fascinating grab bag of ugly Americans wrestling with mo’ money, mo’ problems.”
At the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, The White Lotus secured four wins across various categories. The awards were for outstanding drama casting, contemporary hairstyling, music supervision, and music composition for original score.
