Preorders for the Apple Vision Pro kicked off today, and if you’re curious to know what apps will work on the headset, you might be disappointed to know that Netflix is among the few not to include a native app on the Vision Pro.Reported by Bloomberg, Mark Gurman writes that the streaming giant has no intentions of launching an app for Apple’s forthcoming spatial computer. You can still watch content on Netflix through Vision Pro, but you must use a web browser to access the streaming giant’s library. “Our members will be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how our members can enjoy Netflix on Macs,” a Netflix spokesperson told Gurman in a statement. Also reported by Bloomberg, YouTube and Spotify join Netflix in not having native apps on the Vision Pro at launch.Apple Vision Pro runs visionOS, which shares the same shares core blocks found on iOS and MacOS. Gurman reported last year that Netflix had no plans to make a native app and “will still let its iPad app run on the headset unmodified,” and John Gruber from Daring Fireball (spotted by The Verge) mentioned that it has made the iPad app available for those testing the Vision Pro. One user told Gruber that Netflix’s iPad app worked “just fine” on the headset. Ahead of preorders yesterday, Apple revealed a slew of streaming services available to users, including the previously confirmed Disney+, Crunchyroll, Prime Video, and Paramount+.The Apple Vision Pro will be released on February 2.
