Assassin’s Creed Shadows Art Book Scheduled to Arrive Along with the Game; Petition to Cancel the Title Reaches 30,000 Signatures in Japan



The true aficionados of the Assassin’s Creed series have a reason to rejoice as a one-of-a-kind item, exclusively tied to the series much-anticipated title, is set to launch. Ubisoft and Dark Horse Books are unveiling the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Artbook on November 19, 2024, in perfect sync with the release of their new game.

As spotted by GameSpot, The Art of Assassin’s Creed Shadows Artbook comes in two editions: standard and deluxe. This art book is not just a collection of images, but a celebration and chronicle of the Assassin’s Creed series’ “first foray into the landscape of feudal Japan”. It aims to “satisfy and inspire shinobi assassins and samurai of all generations.”

The standard art book is a hardcover, oversized volume with 256 pages of art covering the development of the AC Shadows. The deluxe edition adds new packaging and more accessories, such as a decorative slipcase. The standard edition costs $50, and the deluxe edition will cost players $100. Delivery will be through Amazon.com.

Japanese Petition to Cancel Assassin’s Creed Shadows Reaches 30,000 Signatures
Since the unveiling of AC Shadows, the game has found itself in some controversies online. From the character of Yasuke to the potential return to RPG gameplay, there’s a lot that’s got the gaming community buzzing. A Change.org petition in Japan to cancel the game has even amassed close to 30,000 signatures, adding fuel to the fire of this heated debate.

The petition states that Ubisoft’s upcoming title lacks “historical accuracy” and respect for the Japanese culture. The petition expands that “Ubisoft continues to misunderstand the nature and role of samurai. This is a serious insult to Japanese culture and history, and may also be linked to Asian racism”. Through this petition, some fans wish to cancel the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows immediately.
