Detective Dotson Is Coming to Xbox Series Consoles

Ahmedabad-based indie developer Masala Games has announced that their mystery-adventure game, Detective Dotson, will release on Xbox Series X and S consoles. The release date has not been revealed yet.

You can check out the Xbox official announcement trailer below:

“It’s the dream of every game developer to bring their game to console as it’s perceived to have the highest quality bar to clear,” said Shalin Shodhan, founder and CEO of Masala Games. “We’re thankful that the Xbox Developer Acceleration Program believes in us. It’s not every day that one of the leading platforms in gaming takes notice. Their trust motivates us to do this opportunity justice.”

“We’re excited and proud to see our desi and Bollywood-inspired Detective Dotson release on Xbox Series consoles,” Xbox’s global expansion’s India lead Arjun Varma said. “Xbox wants to bring unique and diverse games from India to a global audience via our ID@Xbox Program. We are grateful to have Masala Games as an awesome partner on this journey.”

Detective Dotson revealed a new gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show earlier this month, via ID@Xbox, Microsoft’s digital showcase for indie games to global audiences.

A demo of the game was available on-ground as part of the ID@Xbox Games lineup at IGN’s three-day in-person fan event in Los Angeles, IGN Live, which took place from June 7–9.

Speaking to IGN India in an interview, Shodhan said that Masala Games aims to represent India through the game. “Around 20 percent of the world lives in India, and yet there are barely any games that have India as a setting. If we don’t fix that, who will? For us, telling our stories is important rather than someone else’s, and it wouldn’t be an appropriate representation. So in essence: the idea of Detective Dotson stemmed from India and our interpretation of it,” he said.

You can wishlist Detective Dotson on Steam, as the game is set to release in Q4 2024.
