Valve’s Unannounced Hero Shooter Gameplay Leaked Again

Valve, the company behind the popular PC games storefront Steam, has been cooking up a hero shooter but the upcoming title’s images were leaked before the game was even announced to the public. If that was not damaging enough, Valve now has to deal with leaked gameplay videos circulating all over the Internet.

While Valve’s biggest money-churner is Steam, the company is also the publisher behind the Counter-Strike, Portal and Team Fortress franchises, and also Dota 2. Their upcoming game, known as Deadlock, is reportedly a hero shooter title, and this is actually the second gameplay leak, as the first gameplay leak already suggested that the upcoming title takes inspiration from Dota 2.

The leaked videos on Reddit show a range of clips, which are typically a few seconds in length while some are a few minutes long. The new leak features Deadlock shop interface, through which players will supposedly buy upgrades.

As per the leak, players will earn currency known as Souls by stealing it from enemy players, which is available to obtain only for a short time after an opponent is eliminated. Players can use Souls to improve a character’s skills and purchase temporary buffs at any of these shops that are scattered across a map. Apart from skills, there are also upgrades such as larger ammo capacity and increased stamina.

Some leaked videos also feature a voiceover that explains game mechanics, and it might indicate the existence of a tutorial-focused voiceover which seeks to assist new players to familiarise themselves with the title.

As mentioned above, Valve is yet to officially announce the title, and it remains to be seen how Valve looks to deal with these leaks. It is surprising that the huge amount of leaked gameplay videos are still available on Reddit, and haven’t been taken down yet.
