James Gunn Shares Update on the Progress of the Movie

James Gunn, the director of the Superman movie, shares a new update on the ongoing filming for the upcoming DC Universe installment. The new DC Universe approaches after the DCEU movie timeline concludes in 2023. Gunn’s Superman movie, starring David Corenswet, will be the first film to come out of his DC Universe. As of Thursday, May 23, Gunn’s Superman movie has been in production for 84 days, and fans wait patiently to get fresh details about the film.

James Gunn over an Instagram post shared a humorous meme promoting hair products featuring his face, sparking fan inquiries about Superman in the comments. An Instagram user asked Gunn in the comments, “When will the Superman trailer be released?” and also suggested placing a teaser before Deadpool & Wolverine. Although Gunn didn’t directly answer about the first Superman trailer, but he mentioned, “We’re just past the halfway point in filming,” with production scheduled to finish in the summer.

Gunn’s Superman movie cast is set to complete production in July, as shared by Corenswet’s stunt performer, Justin Howell, in an interview with Be More Super. This explains why DC Studios, particularly Superman, will not be present at San Diego Comic-Con. Regarding the release of the first Superman trailer, James Gunn didn’t specify any particular details.

Elsewhere, James Gunn has also shut down the possibility of a last outing with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the MCU. When asked by a fan if Gunn would ever direct a possible Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4, Gunn simply said, “No”. Gunn was also quizzed about Rocket’s character and additional lore about Peter Quill’s grandfather.
