Walker Cancelled After Four Seasons at The CW

The CW is pulling the plug on Walker after four seasons on the network, concluding with what will now be the series finale on June 26.As reported by Variety, The CW will not renew Walker for a fifth season. Instead, the action-drama series will finish its run with the fourth season, which is currently airing with Jared Padalecki in the title role. The actor and executive producer shared the news of the show ending on Instagram with “a heavy heart.””Walker will not be airing on CW for a fifth season,” Padalecki confirmed in the caption of his post. “It’s a tough piece of news, to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the Walker Family that has been built, both on set and off.””It has been a unique honor to be a part of the cast and crew (and fandom!) that helped Walker tell the stories that we told,” he added further on in his statement. “I will forever smile on the years I got to spend with the cast and crew and studio and network and fandom that made this all possible. Til we ride again.”Nexstar acquired The CW in 2022 and made its intentions clear from the outset by cancelling several original scripted series in favor of low-cost imports and co-productions. Walker was one of the few remaining scripted shows still running from the pre-Nexstar days, so its fate had been hanging in the balance for a while.Walker Gallery”We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” The CW said in a statement. “We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network.”Walker is a reboot of the 1990s western drama Walker, Texas Ranger. Padalecki plays the lead role of whip-smart lawman Cordell Walker, starring alongside the likes of Ashley Reyes, Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan, Violet Brinson, Kale Culley, Coby Bell, Jeff Pierre, and Odette Annable, among others. The series premiered in January 2021 and has maintained a steady viewership across seasons, making it one of The CW’s most-watched shows.Adele Ankers-Range is a freelance entertainment writer for IGN.
