Stuck for inspiration? Try this 3D printed “Dice for Filmmakers”

It’s difficult when you’re a small creator just trying to tell a story. It’s even more difficult when you’re still in the early learning stages, or you’re stuck for ideas. Perhaps you’ve got your story, but you’re not entirely sure what shots to use to tell it.

Well, the Dice for Filmmakers by Mott is here to save the day! This dice has the name of a different shot written on each side. If you’re not sure how to film the next clip, just roll the dice and give it a try!

Dice for Filmmakers – Really?

The 3D printed Dice for Filmmakers is a fun idea. I don’t know that I’d suggest anyone use this on a client shoot or serious project, but it can be great as a learning tool. It can help you set yourself some shooting challenges.

No matter how much we shoot or how good we think we’ve become, there’s always room to learn and push ourselves. Forcing ourselves to create unexpected shot combinations can help us develop our problem-solving skills more quickly.

It would be nice to see a few dice out there for filmmakers with different lighting styles, movie themes or other inspiration ideas or random challenges we need to figure out how to overcome.

Where to get it?

You can download the Dice for Filmmakers for free from Cults3D. If you want to print something that might be a bit more practical, be sure to check out these 3D-printed lens caps, the MicBack or this 3d-printed teleprompter.
