Xbox Game Pass is one of the most popular gaming-based subscription services out there. It has grown in popularity by providing free games on both consoles (Xbox) and PC, which has helped expand its user base. The last time they increased the price of the service was when Starfield released, and it seems another price hike should be coming soon, according to an insider. The price hike will be accompanied by new tiers this time when it arrives, it has been suggested.
Rand al Thor 19, one of the most popular sources for all things Xbox, recently spoke about the Game Pass price increase. In a conversation with Jez Corden, Rand al Thor said that he believes that the price hike that was mentioned by Tom Warren is indeed happening and that he has even heard that “there is a new tier of Game Pass coming”. However, he isn’t sure about “what is involved, what it would be” or how it would occur. He only knows that it is happening.

Corden chimed in, and talked about Xbox working on an ad-based tier for Xbox Game Pass, similar to plans we have seen for OTT services. This one will be cheaper than the normal subscription pricing to bring in more players. However, Corden also mentioned that Xbox could even introduce an “uber duber” tier or a premium tier that will include everything in one package and provide a one-stop shop for all things Xbox, “like a tier beyond Ultimate”.

Players should know that none of this is official, so they should be taking it with a grain of salt. At the same time, this does seem like a believable plan, as we have seen so many services provide an ad-based tier to provide cheaper prices, and many players do not mind the ads for a significant price cut. On the other hand, users are also interested in a supreme tier, something that can get them everything in one price. In the end, we will have to see how Xbox executes this plan to know for sure.
