M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap Trailer Includes Easter Egg for His Daughter’s Debut Feature

The first trailer for Trap is here, and hidden among M. Night Shyamalan’s twisty thriller is an Easter egg for his daughter’s debut feature, The Watchers, which releases two months earlier.Trap follows a “father and teen daughter attending a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event,” per the logline for the movie. The trailer starts to unravel these events as Josh Hartnett’s character and his daughter make their way to an arena to watch pop star Lady Raven perform, but the day takes a twisted turn when the police show up hot on the trail of a serial killer.Lady Raven is played by one of M. Night Shyamalan’s daughters, R&B singer Saleka, turning the spotlight on her for this project. However, the filmmaker also included a nod to another of his offspring, Ishana, whose directorial debut feature, The Watchers, will hit theaters on June 14 before Trap releases on August 9.As pointed out by @FreddyInSpace of Bloody Disgusting, there is a billboard for The Watchers in the background of a shot around 1:10 in the trailer. “This rules,” one person on X/Twitter wrote in response to the small but significant sighting, while another added: “His support for his children’s art is cute. I love this.”Hey look at that. It’s a billboard for The Watchers in the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap.
