Here Is a Detailed Look at the CGI Used in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

IGN India’s latest episode of India’s VFX Revolution focuses on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the third instalment from Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Antman series. The episode offers a detailed look at how the VFX effects for the movie’s characters such as Kang, Ant-Man, and Wasp were pulled off, alongside the environment of the Quantum Realm.

For those unfamiliar with the Quantum Realm, it is a whole new universe that exists parallel to the known universe in the Marvel comics. With Ant-Man’s shrinking abilities, the movie required quick sequences where characters and objects shrink to a small size, returning to their original state, or even getting substantially enlarged, thanks to the Pym Particles from Hank Pym.

To bring these effects on screen, Moving Pictures Company’s Mumbai team worked on several action sequences such as Kang’s battles with Janet van Dyne (Wasp) and Ant-Man. They also worked on environmental objects and even wildlife existing in the Quantum Realm. IGN India talked to MPC to discuss how they added life to the scenes through VFX effects, having worked on Kang’s suit, explosion effects, reflecting damage to surroundings, and much more.

The episode reveals the multiple layers of VFX effects that exist for each second of a sequence, and how it adds up to the final scene that we see in the movie. There are different editing layers for the Quantum Realm’s cosmic background, and the objects in the environment such as Kang’s time-travelling spaceship, 3D model of characters, and also the effects added to showcase powers and abilities, among other elements.
