Reflecting on Punjab King’s performances over the years, they managed to enter the playoffs only on two occasions, first in the inaugural 2008 edition where they reached the Semi-Finals and ended up as the runners in 2014. They tried out different captains and coaches but nothing got clicked for them. Gabbar Shikhar Dhawan was retained as their skipper despite the side finishing 8th last season while Jitesh Sharma has been elevated to the vice-captaincy role. They made key signings this year to strengthen their pace cardon, bringing in Harshal Patel and English all-rounder Chris Woakes, and to bolster their batting they bought Rilee Rossouw for Rs 8 crore.
