Dell has already released two Alienware OLED gaming monitors this year – the AW3225QF and AW2725DF, but you may want to hold off on buying one for a little longer as an important change is now rolling out. After plenty of complaints of new panels arriving with scratches, Dell is now using protective film to prevent this from reoccurring, but it may take some time to take full effect.
The first thing to mention is that both of these OLED monitors are fantastic for gaming and more. Many brands are releasing equivalent models this year. Dell was first to arrive, but it hasn’t come without problems. Damaged goods, even if just a few scratches, is not a good look – especially when considering one of these displays will cost as much as $1,199.99.

Alienware AW3225QF

Alienware AW2725DF

Dell roll out new packaging for AW3225QF & AW2725DF
The news that Dell has updated their shipping and handling process came to light a few days ago, and some customers have already been lucky enough to get the new protective film, adding an extra layer of protection for their brand-new OLED monitor. There has been reports of many people sending back the new Alienware AW3225QF and AW2725DF monitors as a result of scratches, and it looks like Dell has taken notice.
One user on Reddit, u/Fit-Ring2827, has received their brand-new AW2725DF with the updated packaging, which should prevent the risk of micro-scratches. They mention that the delivery arrived from South Korea, but it appears that not everyone is so lucky. A few comments in this Reddit thread do say that they’ve also had their monitor delivered recently, though without the film. So, if you want to make sure you benefit from this extra precaution, it’s a good idea to wait a little longer.

Should I buy either of these monitors?
There are a bunch of 240Hz 4K OLED and 360Hz 1440p OLED gaming monitors being released this year, but the Alienware brand is a popular choice for many. Their striking design sets them apart from many other alternatives.
Despite the early woes with minor damage to panels, we’d still definitely recommend one of these monitors – especially now that Dell is making amends. Again, we’d wait a few weeks or so to make sure though. Check out our where to buy AW3225QF and where to buy AW2725DF pages to find the best retailers.
