Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Address Recent Layoffs
As reported by Eurogamer, Baldur’s Gate 3 is still on its award-winning streak, grabbing its latest Game of the Year award at DICE. At this event, Larian Studios’ Michael Douse and David Walgrave, the Director and Head of Publishing respectively, use the opportunity on stage to talk more about the situation.

GOTY @larianstudios speech at DICE 1/2″ Many, many people were let go at the start of this year[…] Don’t let that flame be extinguished by our collective mistakes” -@Cromwelp”We don’t have shareholders, but we also don’t think about them” -David Walgrave pic.twitter.com/Ne2cohHJnm

Douse first talks about how sometimes the developers and players are not shown their real worth as this is a very “human” industry. Douse then states, that without people this industry won’t exist and that they are “talented, they matter and are the future of this industry.” “Don’t let that flame be extinguished by our collective mistakes” adds Douse.

Walgrave then takes the mic to talk about the “secret” behind their games, stating the secret is always keeping “what the player wants” the central focus of the game. Walgrave also speaks about how the stuff that is made at Larian only has a one-time price and after that, the players never have to pay any more money. “In the long run, building a community, building a player base, building games that are fun is going to make you the most money, that’s it”, concluded Walgrave.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Beat the Game in Honour Mode Only Using True Strike

One of the latest stories of the game reveals that a player has beaten the game at its hardest difficulty, Honour mode, using just one spell, True Strike. To understand how challenging this was, you should know that in Honour mode, everything gets more difficult and once you die, you have to restart the game all over again. Adding to that, True Strike is not one of the greatest spells to have as it doesn’t deal damage until you grind a whole bunch to get it to a decent standard. Check out how the player pulls off this feat in Baldur’s Gate 3 below.
