YouTuber Completes Game by Playing in Party of Cats

Baldur’s Gate 3, the sensational RPG title from Larian Studios, is one of those games where gameplay possibilities are endless and time and time again, that has been tested rather successfully by a variety of gamers. The latest gamer to try something entirely different is YouTuber Proxy Gate Tactician, who just completed Baldur’s Gate 3 as a cat.

The player achieved this magnificent feat by using the Druid class’ Wild Shape ability, which allows you to turn into several animals, including cats. Proxy, as PC Gamer spotted, decided to play the entire game as a cat after having logged in over 900 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3. With such experience under his belt, the YouTuber embarked on this quest where he was mostly playing as a cat, apart from instances such as cutscenes or getting hit during combat, where the game forced him to change into the human form again.

Proxy discovered interesting aspects about the game once again, such as cats only taking 1HP damage from falls, regardless of the length of the fall. Moreover, he had to figure out different ways of approaching combat, since cats are not your best choice in BG3 for taking on a direct fight. Since cats can meow to draw NPCs in BG3, Proxy used this to his advantage in combat by luring enemies in and dropping stones onto them or “cat bombs”, which are basically barrels that he created with help from a Myconid necromancer in the game.

Later on in the playthrough, combat became easier for Proxy after he gained access to more powerful cat forms such as sabretooth tiger and panther. In a Reddit post, Proxy talked about his playthrough, where he highlighted that Alert and Tavern Brawler are both very powerful upgrades during wild shape, among other key takeaways from this innovative Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough as a cat.
