Anohana Creators Return for Original Film Fureru

The creators of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day have announced an original film titled Fureru (Touch), scheduled for release in 2024.

The Super Peace Busters creative team, which consists of director Tatsuyuki Nagai, writer-director Mari Okada, and artist Masayoshi Tanaka, are reuniting for Fureru. Nagai will take the helm as director, while Okada will handle the scripts, following her direction of Mappa’s original film Maboroshi. Tanaka will contribute the familiar character designs to the project.

Aniplex is producing the film with Story Inc. TOHO will distribute the film.

As of now, details regarding the plot of Fureru have not been revealed. However, considering the track record of the creators behind Anohana, it’s expected that the film will likely be a tearjerker, with a story that tugs at the heartstrings.

If you haven’t watched Anohana yet, it’s available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Just a heads up though, it might lead to shedding quite a few tears.
