Microsoft Windows Devices Get a Compact Mode for the PC App; CFO Talks About Getting Game Pass To PlayStation and Nintendo




Xbox offers games for both PC and its consoles, the Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One. Therefore, it offers an Xbox store app on PC to buy games from. A recent announcement reveals that this Xbox PC app will soon have a Compact Mode available for all Windows devices in the latest update.

Xbox PC app gets new Compact Mode
The Compact Mode will also support handheld Windows-based devices like the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. It aims to offer an easy-to-use interface on smaller screens. When activated, Compact Mode will collapse the sidebar into icons, creating more screen space for browsing through the app’s content.

To activate Compact Mode on your updated Windows device, click on your profile and then toggle the Compact Mode switch to turn it on. Additionally, Xbox has collaborated with manufacturers like Asus to have Compact Mode set as the default on handheld devices.

In other Xbox news, a report by Gamespot reveals an intriguing statement by Xbox CFO Tim Stuart at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit. Stuart stated that Xbox’s goal is to bring their first-party titles and their Game Pass subscription to “every screen that can play games”. Stuart added, that “it’s a bit of a change of strategy”, but they aren’t “announcing anything broadly”. Their “mission” is to introduce their first-party games and their subscription service to “every screen that can play games”, Stuart added.

In recent Xbox news, a GameSpot report highlights an interesting statement made by Xbox CFO Tim Stuart during the Wells Fargo TMT Summit. Stuart mentioned that Xbox aims to make its first-party titles and Game Pass subscription available on “every screen that can play games.” He noted that this direction marks a change in strategy but clarified that there are no broad announcements at the moment. Stuart stated that their “mission” is to bring their first-party games and subscription service to every screen capable of playing games.

However, the reaction of these “competitors” (PlayStation and Nintendo) to this idea remains to be seen.
